Series A investors evaluate: clear product-market fit with retention data, $1-2M+ ARR with consistent growth (2-3x YoY), proven and repeatable go-to-market motion, unit economics that improve with scale, and a team that can build a $100M+ business.
The Series A bar in 2025-2026 is roughly $1-2M ARR for most SaaS companies, growing 2-3x year-over-year. Capital-efficient companies with <$1M burn might raise at lower ARR. Consumer companies are judged more on engagement and growth rate than revenue.
Series A investors model the path forward: current growth rate sustained, expansion revenue from existing customers, new market segments, pricing power, and operational leverage. Show you understand the levers — don't just extrapolate a hockey stick.
Series A decks should lead with traction: metrics dashboard, cohort analysis, customer case studies, and unit economics breakdown. Vision matters less than execution proof. Include a detailed use-of-funds that maps to specific growth milestones over 18-24 months.
Series A typically takes 4-8 months from first conversation to close. The process is more rigorous than seed: multiple partner meetings, customer reference calls, financial model deep-dive, and competitive analysis. Start building VC relationships 6+ months before you need to raise.
