Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Everything you need to know about getting your pitch deck investor-ready

What ARR do I need for a SaaS Series A?

The 2025-2026 SaaS Series A bar is roughly $1-2M ARR with 2-3x year-over-year growth. Some exceptions: incredibly strong retention (>130% NRR) or hot markets (AI infra) can raise at lower ARR. The key metric is efficiency: growth rate vs. burn rate.

What net retention rate do Series A SaaS investors expect?

Net dollar retention above 110% is compelling, above 120% is exceptional, and above 130% makes you a top-tier Series A candidate. NRR is the single most important SaaS metric at Series A because it proves expansion revenue and product stickiness.

How should I present my SaaS sales efficiency?

Show the magic number (net new ARR / sales & marketing spend), CAC payback period by customer segment, and quota attainment rates. Series A investors want to see a repeatable sales motion, not founder-led sales. Evidence of a scalable GTM is the #1 Series A requirement.

What should my SaaS Series A deck focus on?

Lead with metrics: ARR chart, cohort retention, NRR, unit economics. Then show the scalable GTM motion (not just that you can sell, but that a team can sell). Use of funds should clearly map to go-to-market scaling: sales hires, marketing spend, and customer success infrastructure.

What valuation should I expect for a SaaS Series A?

SaaS Series A valuations in 2025-2026 are typically 15-30x ARR, depending on growth rate and retention. A $1.5M ARR company growing 3x could see $15-25M. Efficiency premiums for companies with low burn multiples. Capital-efficient SaaS commands the highest multiples.
